Baritone
Chilean baritone Ramiro Maturana joined the programme of Accademia Teatroalla Scala in 2017 offering him to make his debut in Teatro alla Scala in the 2017/18 season as il Giovane Cantore in Ti vedo, ti sento, mi perdo (world premiere), Phaor in Ali Babà e i quaranta ladroni and Ariadne auf Naxos. In 2018/19 he sang Belcore L’elisir d’amore; Marullo in Rigoletto, il Poeta in Prima la musica e poi le parole and Spinelloccio Gianni Schicchi, directed by Woody Allen.
Some roles that stand out as for previous seasons are his debut as Don Alvaro in Il viaggio a Reims for the Rossini Opera Festival, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at Opera Nacional de Chile, also Cendrillon at Teatro Real de Madrid, Belcore in L’Elisir d’amore at Grand Theatre de Genève, and L’italiana in Algeri in Fondazione Rete Lirica delle Marche.
Ramiro sang as soloist with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Chile in Carmina Burana, Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th symphony, Mahler’s 8th symphony, Britten’s War Requiem, Messiah, St. John’s Passion; also with Orquesta de Cámara de Chile in Apollo e Dafne. He has performed recitals as soloist in Teatro alla Scala, Carnegie Hall, Palau de la Música Catalana, Opera Nacional de Chile.
Last season he performed Il Matrimonio segreto at Teatro Regio di Parma, Silvio in Pagliacci, The Little Sweep at Ópera de Tenerife; also Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Lescaut in Manon at Municipal de Santiago, roles for which he won the 2022 and 2024 Opera Award from the Circle of Art Critics of Chile.
He recently made his debut at Teatro de la Zarzuela with El Caballero de Olmedo and at Opéra de Lyon with La fanciulla del West and Manon at Teatro Regio di Torino.
His next engagements include La Cambiale di Matrinonio at Rossini Opera Festival, Werther at Opera Nacional de Chile and La Corte de Faraón at Teatro de la Zarzuela.
